Let’s talk about Timing regarding Marriage Intentions. Haven’t seen one recently and I am genuinely curious what everyone has to say.

Chatting phase of 3-4 months is ideal as that gives both sides the opportunity to understand how one operates on a daily basis. 1-2 months feels super rushed leading to key information about incompatibility going unnoticed. 4-12 months gives the thought about how one person might also be entertaining another person. Trust is so fickle nowadays, thanks to society.

Both parties should agree together when to introduce families and when to actually perform the Nikah. It’s a big decision, merging 2 families together, possibly different cultures and different traditions.

Seeing profiles that say Marriage in 1-2 months, gives vibes of suspicion, like is someone trying to escape a certain situation just so that they don’t feel entrapped? On the flip side, Marriage in 2+ years gives a ‘straggler’ vibe. An ideal time frame should be within 1-2 years including the chatting phase, ergo, in 1.5 years, max up to 2 years with a Khitbah being done in the middle.

What do you, fellow Jamaa participants think? Is there a proper time frame? Are Khitbah’s (engagement) acceptable? All opinions are welcomed, but do kindly please provide some justification.
