WHOLE-then-some
I once believed my shattered soul
Could never make another whole.
So I walked away before I stayed,
Certain love would only fade.
I feared the mirror of my heart,
Where every hidden crack would start.
I called myself beyond repair,
Too lost to ask if You were there.
How could I love another soul
When mine still wandered, incomplete?
How could I promise them my hand
With trembling knees and weary feet?
Then I remembered...
You are not asking me for perfection,
But for a heart that turns to You.
You mend what I cannot restore.
You breathe hope into abandoned places.
You forgive what I cannot forget.
You see a servant where I only saw failure.
So I am not half a man.
Not because I have become enough,
But because You are enough for me.
The scars remain,
Yet they no longer define me.
The tears still fall,
Yet they fall in sujood instead of despair.
If I love another,
Let it be through loving You first.
If I hold another's hand,
Let it be while mine is held by Your mercy.
For a heart connected to its Lord
Is never truly broken beyond repair.
I am still healing.
Still repenting.
Still becoming.
And every step towards You
Makes me more whole
Than I could ever become alone.
Nobody will ever truly know how merciful Allah has been to me. The prayers He answered, the things He protected me from, the doors He opened, and the situations He carried me through.
I look back and realise that I am here only by His mercy. Every blessing, every lesson, every bit of strength and patience, and every success I have is from Allah alone.
Alhamdulillah for what I have, for what I don’t have yet, and for what Allah is still preparing for me. My life is a testimony of His mercy.
Astaghfirullah for the moments I focus on what is missing and forget the countless blessings already in my hands. 🤍
