What's your opinion on guys who propose, you say yes, they give you a ring. But tell you to remain quiet and keeps delaying marriage. A year later, the couple are still together no marriage in sight. Everytime the girl brings it out he says they should have a nikah just the 2 of them and no one else needs to get involved. But them being Pakistani, she wants family involved as family will accept them if they have a secret marriage.

Intimacy Mindset Questions for Courtship - Halal & Respectful

  1. Values & Mindset

  2. What does “intimacy in marriage” mean to you beyond the physical?

  3. How do you think couples should build emotional closeness before physical closeness?

  4. What’s your view on patience and going slow when building intimacy in marriage?

  5. How important is modesty and hayaa to you even within marriage?

  6. Boundaries & Expectations

  7. What are your personal boundaries for conversations about marriage/intimacy before nikkah?

  8. After nikkah, how do you think couples should communicate about their needs and comfort levels?

  9. What does “consent and kindness” mean to you in a marriage?

  10. How should a couple handle it if one person needs more time than the other?

  11. Emotional Connection

  12. What makes you feel loved, safe, and respected by a spouse?

  13. How do you think couples should protect their marriage from outside influences/pornography?

  14. What role should dua and Allah’s guidance play in our intimacy as a couple?

  15. How do you think we can keep shyness/hayaa alive even after years of marriage?

  16. Practical Mindset

  17. What’s one Islamic teaching about marriage intimacy that you find beautiful?

  18. How do you think we should balance privacy in marriage vs sharing with friends/family?

  19. What does “mercy and gentleness” look like to you in a husband/wife relationship?

How to use these:

  1. Only after serious intent + families involved. Don’t send these casually.
  2. Frame it right: “I’m asking this because I want us to build our marriage on Allah’s terms, with hayaa and respect.”
  3. Share your answer first. It makes the other person feel safe.
  4. Stop at boundaries. If anyone gets uncomfortable or asks graphic details before nikkah, that’s a red flag.

The goal: Find someone who sees intimacy as an ibaadah of love, mercy, and respect - not just physical.
