If someone comes to us with sincere intentions for marriage, but it turns out that we are not meant to be together at that time, then perhaps months or even years later that person may return. It may be that they were not our spouse at that moment, but Allah had decreed that we would be together in the future.

So always have good expectations of Allah (husn adh-dhann billah). Whatever Allah decrees is always what is best.
