All things marriage

Marriage requires the same effort you'd put into your career or fitness maybe more. But somehow we treat it like it'll just work itself out. That's backwards.

We love to say marriage changes a man. That he matures. That he becomes more responsible, more focused, more willing to build instead of just drift.
If we actually believe that — if we believe the man he becomes after marriage is different from the man he was before it — then why are we so fixated on what he earns right now?
He's not done growing. Marriage isn't the finish line where a man arrives "complete" — it's often the very thing that pushes him to grow up, work harder, and become someone steadier than he was. The man who seems average today might become the most reliable man you know once he has a reason to.
But a job? A job can vanish. He could get fired tomorrow, no matter how much he earns today. No salary is guaranteed for life.
What's harder to take away is who he becomes when he's given the chance — and the right partner — to grow into it.
So maybe the real question isn't "what does he make right now."
It's "who is he capable of becoming, and will I be part of why he becomes it.

But some men want to marry me and ask to marry me in their country...
Even though marriages usually take place within the woman's family...

I asked, "Are you willing to cover my parents' round-trip airfare?"

He replied, "No, you just have to come alone and live here ..."

Aahhh, I really can't believe how men think these days...
They won't even meet my parents to propose.

Of course, I refused. I wouldn't do something stupid just because I wanted a husband.
