as though grief
is something shameful
to be folded into a pocket
before anyone notices.
Some begin
with a phone that will never ring,
a name that still lives
inside old contacts,
a voice that survives
only in memory,
echoing through empty rooms
where silence has learned
to answer back.
Some begin
with photographs worn soft
from trembling hands,
chairs no one dares to move,
stories told again and again
because repeating a life
is the closest thing
to keeping it alive.
Our lives are much like the setting sun. To our eyes, it appears to be disappearing beyond the horizon, yet this is merely a matter of perspective. What seems to us like a sunset is, in reality, a sunrise somewhere else. The sun itself never truly ceases to shine; only our angle of vision changes.
Likewise, life is not defined by endings, but by the way we choose to perceive them. If we train our hearts to focus on the dawn rather than the dusk, we will free ourselves from the fear that our lives are fading into darkness. Every apparent decline carries within it the promise of a new beginning.
When we embrace optimism, nurture noble character, and walk with a positive spirit, we begin to see not the shadows of despair, but the light of hope. And just as the rising sun illuminates the world around it, our lives, too, can become a source of warmth, guidance, and inspiration for others.
