Let's be real. Most of us came here from Muzz, and whether we admit it or not, marriage is really in the back of your minds. Almost every other post is about marriage, compatibility, communication, or something that happened on Muzz. That's not a criticism it's just the reality of this community.

One thing I've noticed, though, is that we seem to spend more time talking about people behind their back than talking to them. If a brother's conversation bothers you, message him. If you think someone is crossing an Islamic line, advise them privately first.

As Muslims, we're taught to advise one another sincerely and to avoid backbiting and making assumptions. If you genuinely care about someone's deen or character, speak to them directly instead of building a case against them from a few comments or public interactions.

I've also noticed that some people become uncomfortable when they see a brother and sister having a respectful conversation, a little humor, or light banter. Not every conversation is inappropriate, and not every interaction means two people are pursuing marriage. At the same time, if someone eventually does find a spouse through those conversations, isn't that one of the reasons many of us are here in the first place?

None of us are perfect. Some people are naturally more serious. Others communicate through humor. Some appreciate playful banter, others don't. That's a matter of personality, not necessarily character. NGL, I have come really close to marriage from my conversations. I am not here on Muzz/Jamaa to play games, flirt/banter for rest of my life. It is concerning that people on Jamaa are here for years and they are still single and complaining that they are still single.

If you honestly believe someone is doing something un-Islamic or crossing a line, have the courage to speak to them directly. Don't whisper about them, don't create stories, and don't recruit others to your opinion. Its unfortunate to see this type of behavior coming from "practicing" bearded brothers and hijabi sisters.

Give your brother or sister the chance to explain themselves.

Stop thinking you're ugly. You are, but stop thinking about it.✌️
