Maybe it's just me, but why do people here exchange only a few messages and then ask to meet up?

I prefer getting to know someone properly online first. it helps me feel more comfortable and allow us o see if we're genuinely compatible before meeting in person. Otherwise, it sometimes feels like people are more interested in going on a date than actually getting to know each other.
