On Jamaa, I keep reading arguments between men and women instead of people actually trying to get to know each other. It feels like everyone is more interested in proving a point than understanding one another.
Every day it’s the same questions. What do you think about men? What do you think about women? What do you think about this? What do you think about that? Not to have a meaningful conversation, but to collect attention, reactions, and followers. It sometimes feels like Pokémon, where everyone is trying to catch as much attention as possible.
Meanwhile, even animals seem to have it easier. They find a partner without endless requirements, without ego battles, and without trying to win every argument.
While we spend our time fighting over small things, there are wars, people are starving, and none of us knows what tomorrow will bring. That alone should remind us of what really matters.
As Muslims, we should be bringing each other together, not pushing each other apart. We are stronger with kindness, respect, patience, and good character than we will ever be through arguments.
Maybe it’s time for different conversations. Ask someone how their day was. Share something that helps others. Offer a sincere compliment or a kind word. Those things are far more valuable than chasing attention.
Less attention seeking, less ego, less fighting. More respect, more laughter, more meaningful conversations. That’s the kind of match everyone could benefit from.
