What do you think happened?
A: He wasn’t serious
B: My directness and sarcasm was too much for him
C: He was a catfish
D: Something else
Imma try to make this quick. His first message was the salaams and “how are you”
I replied and immediately asked him a question, (something light bc a conversation wasn’t gonnaget started by asked how I was doing) in which he replied why would you ask that 🙄
Ok so surface level chat, I ask him to tell me something he wants me to know so it wouldn’t be an interview (he wasn’t saying much). He says “I’m 6’3” so you’re gonna look like a baby next to me” then he asks my most hated question “what are you looking for in a man?”
Sir? That’s what you want me to know? How tall you are? So I jokingly say you need a full body pic to prove that. Then, “my bio is pretty straightforward about what I am looking for in a husband”
Y’all he blocked, deleted, unmatched or whatever immediately after 🤣🤣
So what do y’all think happened?
A: He wasn’t serious
B: My directness and sarcasm was too much for him
C: He was a catfish
D: Something else

Marriage Is Not Jollof Rice
A young brother once asked, “How will I know she’s the one?”
An elderly man smiled and replied, “When you stop searching for perfection and start recognizing good character.”
These days, many singles are waiting for a spouse who is 100% handsome or beautiful, wealthy, perfectly religious, funny, educated, a master chef, emotionally mature, and somehow still waiting only for them. My brother, my sister… even paradise requires patience before entry.
Some people reject ten good proposals while waiting for an angel. By the time they realize angels don’t marry humans, the good people have already married each other.
Marriage is not about finding someone with zero flaws. It is about finding someone whose faith, character, and values make the journey to Allah easier. Beauty fades, money rises and falls, but good manners and taqwa remain valuable.
The Prophet ﷺ taught us to give priority to religion and character. When we ignore those qualities and chase only appearances or status, we often end up collecting regrets instead of blessings.
So laugh a little, lower unrealistic expectations, improve yourself, make sincere du’a, and trust Allah’s timing. Remember: if you spend all your time looking for a perfect spouse while refusing to become a better spouse yourself, you’ll be like a man searching for Wi-Fi without turning on his phone.
May Allah grant every single a righteous spouse who will be the coolness of their eyes and a companion on the path to Jannah. Āmīn o olohun
