The Core Difference between Christianity & Islam: Yusuf Chambers

Fallback image

Yusuf Chambers | English Muslim Revert on Instagram‎: "The core difference between Islam and Christianity is simple. Islam is built on pure Tawheed, the worship of one creator alone. No intermediaries, no icons, no saints. Christianity today often centres on people, places and symbols connected to Jesus عليه السلام. Islam removes all of that and takes you straight to the source. A direct, personal relationship with the one true creator. Strip everything away and you find Allah. #YusufChambers #Revert #Tawheed #Islam #Faith"‎

The word sakīnah (سَكِينَة), often translated as tranquility, serenity, calm, reassurance, or divine peace, appears six times in the Qur’an.

In each instance, it refers to a special tranquility that Allah sends to strengthen, comfort, or reassure believers.

  1. Surah Al-Baqarah (2:248)

“And their prophet said to them, ‘Indeed, a sign of his kingship is that the chest will come to you in which is sakīnah from your Lord…’”

Context: The Israelites are told that the return of the Ark of the Covenant is a sign of Allah’s favor. The Ark contains sakīnah from Allah.

  1. Surah At-Tawbah (9:26)

“Then Allah sent down His sakīnah upon His Messenger and upon the believers…”

Context: During the Battle of Hunayn, when many Muslims were shaken, Allah sent tranquility and reassurance.

  1. Surah At-Tawbah (9:40)

“…Then Allah sent down His sakīnah upon him and supported him with soldiers you did not see…”

Context: Refers to the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ during the migration (Hijrah), when he and Abu Bakr were hiding in the Cave of Thawr.

  1. Surah Al-Fath (48:4)

“It is He who sent down sakīnah into the hearts of the believers that they would increase in faith along with their faith…”

Context: Following the events leading to the Treaty of Hudaybiyyah, Allah strengthens the believers internally.

  1. Surah Al-Fath (48:18)

“Certainly was Allah pleased with the believers when they pledged allegiance to you under the tree… so He sent down sakīnah upon them…”

Context: Refers to the Pledge of Ridwan at Hudaybiyyah.

  1. Surah Al-Fath (48:26)

“When those who disbelieved had put into their hearts pride… then Allah sent down His sakīnah upon His Messenger and upon the believers…”

Context: During the tensions surrounding Hudaybiyyah, Allah grants calmness and restraint to the Muslims.

A Beautiful Pattern

When you look at all six occurrences together, sakīnah appears in moments of:

Fear
Uncertainty
Conflict
Waiting
Testing
Leadership responsibility

It is not merely “feeling peaceful.” In the Qur’anic sense, sakīnah is a divine gift that steadies the heart when circumstances are difficult.

Many scholars note that sakīnah often arrives not when the storm ends, but while the storm is still happening.

A number of classical scholars also connect sakīnah to the concept of ṭuma’nīnah (deep inner assurance), making it one of the Qur’an’s most profound descriptions of spiritual calm.

Something I didn’t expect at all as a revert was realizing how difficult it is to find a man who is also interested in a polygamous marriage.

It really surprised me that this isn’t even a common practice among Muslims.

There is so much work to do in this world to get people back to preserving Allah’s will on earth.

Best part of being italian revert: the italian "aura"

Worst part of being italian revert: Not looking like the stereotype of Italian winking guy but having untrimmed beard, modest clothes and character
(Joke, this is the best part)
