There's a kind of love that doesn't ask to be understood, only to be felt. Shams once said a lamp doesn't dim because it burns for one person instead of a crowd. Maybe that's what real connection is not the noise of being seen by everyone, but the quiet of being truly known by even one soul. We spend so much of life searching outward for what was always meant to be found within. The heart, once it stops chasing, becomes the mirror it was always meant to be.

I really need honest advice, so please be kind. I’m not looking for judgment or negativity. If you believe all girls are materialistic or just want to criticize, please skip this post.
I’ve been engaged to the same man for the past five years. Throughout all these years, neither of us has been unfaithful. I know he loved me, and maybe he still does, but lately I don’t feel the same effort, care, or excitement from his side. Sometimes I wonder if he’s simply tired of this relationship.
Our families live far apart, so my parents requested one thing before the marriage—that he arrange a home in Islamabad so I could be closer to my family and feel secure. He agreed wholeheartedly. In fact, he was the one who asked my parents if they had any expectations, and this was the only thing they asked for.
I completely understand that life isn’t always easy. He faced financial difficulties, and I never left his side because of that. I supported him, trusted him, and waited patiently, believing that things would eventually fall into place.
But today, after five years, we’re still standing at the same point. Nothing has changed. For the last two years, whenever I ask about our marriage, the answer is always, “Next month.” That next month has never come.
What hurts me the most is not just the delay—it’s how different our relationship has become. I no longer feel the warmth, happiness, or emotional connection that we once had. Sometimes I feel so emotionally exhausted that I slip into depression. He doesn’t really want to communicate anymore, and if I try to express my feelings, he simply says, “Talk properly or don’t talk to me.”
I’ve spent so much time questioning myself. Maybe I’m expecting too much. Maybe I’m wrong. But then I ask myself, how long is someone supposed to keep waiting for promises that never become reality?
He’s not a bad person, and I’m not saying he has treated me horribly. But at the same time, he isn’t fulfilling the commitments he made—not just to me, but to both our families. After waiting for five years and hearing “next month” for the last two years, I honestly feel emotionally broken and completely lost.
I love him, but I’m no longer sure if love alone is enough when there is no certainty about the future.
If you’ve ever been in a similar situation, what would you do? Would you keep waiting, or would you accept that sometimes love isn’t enough without action?
I would truly appreciate genuine, respectful advice. Thank you for reading.
