I often see many sisters saying they are looking for a religious husband, which is a beautiful thing. But when marriage discussions begin, the focus often shifts to income, business status, and educational qualifications.
I was born and raised in Makkah, pray five times a day, and put my faith first. After school, I went to Malaysia for my bachelor's degree, but due to financial difficulties, I could only complete my first semester.
Of course, education and financial stability matter, but marriage should not feel like selecting a product from a checklist. Faith, character, and sincerity should also be valued.
Allah says in the Qur'an:
﴿وَأَنكِحُوا الْأَيَامَىٰ مِنكُمْ وَالصَّالِحِينَ مِنْ عِبَادِكُمْ وَإِمَائِكُمْ ۚ إِن يَكُونُوا فُقَرَاءَ يُغْنِهِمُ اللَّهُ مِن فَضْلِهِ ۗ وَاللَّهُ وَاسِعٌ عَلِيمٌ﴾
"And marry the unmarried among you and the righteous among your male and female servants. If they are poor, Allah will enrich them from His bounty. And Allah is All-Encompassing, All-Knowing." (Surah An-Nur 24:32)
