Karim and Sara logged into the dating app, each armed with a "soulmate checklist" longer and more complex than a NASA rocket blueprint. He was searching for a Disney princess with the intellect of Albert Einstein, while she was looking for James Bond with the hopeless romanticism of Romeo.
The conversation kicked off with a chilly "Hey" from Karim, to which Sara replied with a curt, interrogative "Yes?", sounding less like a potential match and more like a detective running a background check. When he casually mentioned, "I’m just a simple guy who loves stability," her overactive imagination instantly translated it to: "I am a boring, broke couch potato looking for a personal chef." Not to be outdone, when she stated, "I’m an independent woman," his brain immediately flagged it as: "I am high-maintenance and ready to argue from day one."
What followed was a masterclass in the "dialogue of the deaf." Every text was brief, shrouded in mysterious tension, and dripping with defensive sarcasm. They deciphered each other’s words like rival cryptographers during a war, completely stripping the language of its actual meaning. In the end, they both aggressively slammed the "Block" button, drawing the curtain on a match that failed to connect intellectually, emotionally, or even in the same time zone. It was a hilarious yet painful reminder that while our technology is living in the future, our emotional and social intelligence is still stuck in the Stone Age.!
