A dear brother called Naseer will be doing a 50 mile bike ride on the 1st & 2nd August across Birmingham and Coventry to raise funds for the Middle East Children's Alliance (MECA).

He is dedicating this ride to the memory of his beloved nephew, Arslaan Zaheer, who sadly passed away on 1st August last year.

As we remember Arslaan, we pray:

اللَّهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لَهُ وَارْحَمْهُ وَعَافِهِ وَاعْفُ عَنْهُ

Allahumma-ghfir lahu warhamhu wa 'afihi wa'fu 'anhu.

"O Allah, forgive him, have mercy on him, grant him peace and pardon him."

May Allah forgive Arslaan's shortcomings, expand and illuminate his grave, grant him the highest ranks in Jannah, and reunite him with his loved ones in the Hereafter. Ameen.

The Urs of Hz. Bilal ibn Rabah (RA) marks the passing of the first muazzin of Islam, the one whose voice carried the Ezan across the world for the first time. He is a man who lived as a slave and died as a companion of the Most Beloved, whose name is written in Golden letters on Earth and in the Paradises.

His parents were royalty in their native land, taken as prisoners into the Jahiliyya of Arabia. When the light of Islam reached his heart he did not hesitate. His master beat him under the blazing sun, pressing thorns into his body, demanding he renounce his faith, crushing his chest with boulders. Hz. Bilal called out only: "Ahad, Ahad."

Imam Rabbani Mujaddid Alf-Thani (KS) records that when some objected to the way Hz. Bilal pronounced the words of the Ezan, the Holy Prophet (AS) replied: "The ‘seen’ of Bilal is ‘sheen’ to Allah." His sincerity transformed even his imperfection into something greater than the correctness of others.

After the passing of the Holy Prophet (AS), Hz. Bilal could not bear to remain in Madinah. He moved to Damascus. One night the Holy Prophet (AS) came to him in a dream and said: "Ya Bilal, you do not visit us anymore?" He ran back. Hz. Hasan and Hz. Huseyin asked him to call the Ezan. When he reached the words Ashadu anna Muhammadan Rasulallah, his soul could not bear the pain of pointing toward his Beloved and finding him gone. He lost consciousness. The people of Madinah rushed from their homes thinking the Prophet (AS) had returned.

Sultan ul-Evliya Sheykh Mawlana Nazim el-Hakkani (KS) describes his final moments: "They were asking, 'O Bilal, every moment you are approaching death, yet you are so happy.' He said, 'Today I am with you. Tomorrow I will be with my Habib and his Companions. I am going to reach them in the Heavens.'"

May Allah be pleased with Hz. Bilal (RA). May his intercession reach us.
