The People Who Will Never Know They Changed Me
There are people in this world who will never know my name.
They will never read these words.
They will never know that somewhere, across borders they have never crossed, a stranger carries them in her du'a.
And yet...
They have changed me.
Not because they spoke to me.
But because they showed me what faith looks like when life leaves a person with nothing except Allah.
A mother I have never met taught me that grief can still remember its Lord.
A father I will probably never embrace taught me that dignity can survive even the deepest sorrow.
A child whose name I do not know reminded me that hope is sometimes the bravest thing a believer can carry.
They never intended to become my teachers.
Yet they have taught me more than many books ever could.
Every story I have heard has quietly rearranged something inside me.
It has made me complain less.
It has made me question whether my heart runs to Allah as quickly as my tongue says it does.
It has made me realise that faith is not only what we say when life is beautiful.
It is where we stand when life is unbearably heavy.
Sometimes I wonder...
Will they ever know that they changed someone they have never met?
Will they ever know that, because of them, a stranger somewhere tries a little harder to trust Allah?
Perhaps they never will.
But Allah knows.
He knows every tear that reached another heart.
Every reminder hidden inside their patience.
Every lesson carried in their perseverance.
Perhaps that is one of the quiet miracles of this Ummah.
That Allah allows the faith of one believer to strengthen another...
Even when oceans stand between them.
To the people of Palestine,
You may never know my name.
But by Allah,
you have changed the way I understand patience,
the way I understand tawakkul,
and the way I understand what it means to belong to one Ummah.
I ask Allah to write your names among the people of Jannah,
to ease the hearts of those who remain,
to envelop those who have returned to Him in His infinite mercy,
and to let us meet one day where no farewell, no fear, and no grief will ever exist.
I love you all for the sake of Allah.
