After this case in India, where a wife murdered her husband, i am really scared of getting married.

There is theory that she married him for money, and with help of her boyfriend murdered him.

I am not sure how much truth is to that but I can not deny the fact that this happens.

On top of that, recently I got a rishta from an apparently amazing perfect family. We got introduced through the family, she seemed perfect and sweet. Although I was never found of her mother because she was overly sweet.

Anyways, cut to the part where I was being pressured into saying Yes, and her mom kept telling everyone that we are both in agreement, while I was still thinking about it.

Consulted a friend who suggested that I do a background check on the girl. Found out she lied about not having a past, which i was fine with. She was in relationship with my best friends cousin for 6 years.

They both used to travel together, without letting family know. At some point guy had some videos of her, no idea what, I didnt need to know. Also she had or is having other relationships too, i dont believe that because it does not have a solid evidence.

Anyways, after that I asked the girl again to tell me if there is anything that she would like to share and I have no problem. She dont need to share the detail, just tell me if there was something. She kept lying, her mother did too.

Now my mom confronted them and her mom started crying, saying she has been in the hospital for 2 days. So we started reconsidering the proposal, found out that her mom was taking zumba class in the gym hours before my mom's confrontation. Also, she uploaded her video on TikTok.

I am really happy that its called off, but also really scared. I have never been in any haram, kept myself pure even when there were open opportunities. But what if whoever I marry is like her.

Is asking someone to be pure and modest, such a bad take in this world, even when I am open to accept the past given I have some knowledge what happened.

I am just freaked out. Feeling being single is better.
