A reminder to myself and every Muslim.
Just because free mixing and casual chatting between men and women is common on social media doesn't make it acceptable in Islam.
Allah commands believing men and women to lower their gaze and guard their chastity (Qur'an 24:30–31). He also says, "Do not be soft in speech..." (Qur'an 33:32), teaching us to maintain dignity and proper boundaries.
Islam permits necessary communication, but unnecessary private chats, emotional attachments, flirting, and casual interactions that can lead to fitnah are not something a Muslim should normalize.
Before sending that message, ask yourself:
Is it necessary?
Does it please Allah?
- Is it bringing me closer to Jannah or closer to temptation?
As Muslims, our online conduct should reflect the Qur'an and Sunnah, not the standards of modern social media.
May Allah protect our hearts and keep us firm upon His guidance. Ameen.
