I often wondered why it was always everyone else and never me, why everyone seemed to find the right person while I was still single at this age. Social pressure? Anxiety? Faith? There were so many questions racing through my mind.
But I eventually realized that I simply wasn’t ready to meet the right person. Not because Allah didn’t love me, but because He hadn’t yet finished preparing me for everything I had always hoped for in marriage.
Who I was a few years ago would never have been truly happy, nor would I have been able to make the man beside me happy. In fact, I would never have truly flourished in a relationship that I was far from being ready for.
So Allah created this delay to break me (through trials) and rebuild me. And I realize that, day by day, I am becoming the best version of myself : the one who is first happy with herself before being happy with her future husband.
We cannot truly be happy with someone else, love them, and cherish them if we do not first love ourselves. This long delay was not a punishment from Allah, but a period of preparation for the future encounter I have always dreamed of. ✨🤲🏽
