Apologies for the incoming rant. But does anyone how hates how bengali people treat the marriage process (I'm bengali myself btw). I sometimes feel ashamed to call myself bengali given how some of the parents act & communicate and how incompetent & deluded some of the sons/daughters who are looking to get married
It's always about 'what does everyone else in your family here and back home do for work and their education, how much money does your son earn, what it his career and is there growth, can he BUY a house for my daughter'. Not to forget the disgusting mahr requirements + gold that the parents ask because they 'value their daughter and because she has an education + a job'. Not to mention the 'this is how we do things' without consider any other ways to approach life
Then you got sons who don't even have an opinion on anything, don't have any critical thinking skills, dont have the ability to introspect and haven't got a backbone to stand up for anything - just copy what their backward families did and told them to do. Then you got daughters who seem to think they're all that because they've travelled a little, have a degree and a career and when you scratch beneath the surface - they're extremely superficial and have little to no domestic abilities (just like some men) yet demand a home and a provider husband.
Bengali elders and sadly a lot of the younger generation in the UK still haven't progressed mentally. Just stuck in their old ways and refuse to change. Not mention the utter hypocrisy some of then display and when you call them out (I've called out the women's parents during marriage discussions btw!), you're the problem. Marriage was meant to be made easy yet this wretched community refuses to move forward and then they wonder why theres such turmoil in their third world dump of a country and why places where there's a majority of them in the UK are utter dumps and hated by many.
May Allah teach these people a harsh lesson on the day of judgement
