@Rocket
He lays here for a pat every morning, only by me. He saps life energy out of me but it’s fine. I like giving him my aura and he looks super cool.
He also despises nearly every human on Earth. Just the way i like it. Just like me.
Need honest opinions. Am I overreacting or should I walk away?
I’ve been talking to a guy for several months for marriage. We met through family. At first, everything felt great. He was affectionate, always called me “jaan” and “my love,” took me out, paid for dates, bought me thoughtful gifts, and made me feel cared for. He was honest from the beginning that he wasn’t wealthy, and I accepted that because I cared more about his character than his income.
As time went on, some things started bothering me.
His family
His sister didn’t have the best first impression of me. She met me years ago in college and apparently told him I wasn’t his type and even got my age wrong. From what he’s told me, she also controls money that belongs to him and his brother from their parents’ home care income, and it’s caused major arguments in the family.
His mom is another issue.
When I met her for the first time, I smiled at her throughout the visit, but she barely smiled back and kept a very straight face. I left feeling really uncomfortable. What made it harder for me is that I later found out she had let another woman stay in their home for years and helped her a lot, so I couldn’t understand why I felt so unwelcome.
Whenever I bring up how that first meeting made me feel, he tells me I’m focusing on it too much and says things like, “She’s not going to eat you alive.”
Wedding discussions
We started planning our nikah.
In my family, mahar is important. My sisters both received much higher mahar than what he can afford, and while I accepted a much smaller amount because I wanted to make things work, I still wanted our nikah to be nice.
Then we started discussing costs.
I showed him a wedding dress that was around $2,500, and his first reaction was, “Why is it so expensive?”
At the same time, I was completely willing to spend a few thousand dollars on his outfit and everything I needed to contribute from my side.
That conversation honestly hurt.
Rent
This is where things really started changing for me.
He asked if we could split rent and said he could pay about $1,000 if I paid $500.
The amount itself isn’t really what bothered me.
What bothered me was that before this, he always talked about providing, and now he was expecting me to contribute from day one.
I told him there’s a difference between me choosing to help because I love my husband versus being expected to help.
I also told him that if we’re both working and contributing financially, then he can’t expect me to also be the traditional wife who does all the cooking, cleaning, and emotional labor.
He told me I was being manipulative.
Later he also called me delusional and said, “Why don’t you go marry one of those guys then?”
That really hurt.
Where I’m at now
The more we argue, the more I feel like I can’t express concerns about his family without him shutting me down.
I worry that if problems happen after marriage, he’ll always defend his mom or sister first.
At the same time, I do love him.
He has done thoughtful things for me. He’s surprised me with food when I was having a bad day, bought me gifts, made me feel loved, and there are definitely good moments between us.
But lately, I feel like the bad conversations are happening more often than the good ones.
My sister and brother-in-law both think these are serious red flags and believe I should walk away before getting married.
I honestly don’t know anymore.
Am I expecting too much?
Would you marry someone after all of this, or do you think these issues will only become bigger after marriage?

Sometimes I clear all my filters just to see what I’ve been missing out on. Turns out, it’s mostly requests from 18-year-olds.

Are woman as attracted to men with big sunnah beards as much as were attracted to women in hijabs?

A genuine question
If loyalty is priceless, why does wealth often become a deciding factor?
Would you choose a wealthy man with uncertain character, or a loyal man who’s still building his future?
