Do men really think they look good when they pout and do that screwed up eyebrow thing? Cos it is such a turn off. All it demonstrates is ‘unserious bio’

What do you think about this statement?

The beginning and end of love is friendship. What's left in the middle is romance.

Assalamualaikum

I have come to realize that many among us do not invest time in knowing what's happening in our worlds.

As Muslims and responsible citizens of the countries we belong to, it's important to know about current affairs in resl time..

Here are some pointers that may help:

Every eay, go through the headlines of atleast:

  • -3 international news portals
  • -3 national news portals
  • -2 regional news portals

International could be: Al Jazeera, The Guardian, BBC
For India, national could be: The Wire, The Hindu, Telegraph India, The Indian Express
For regional, you will have to research a bit on your own. A good example for the South Indian region is The Newsminute and Siasat Daily.

Not every source is 100 percent fool proof. But reading or atleast scanning through these will give you a bood idea on what's happening.

You can configure these in Google News as well.

Please free to add or recommend more sources.

(Those who didn’t read my first story, please go on my profile and read the story with title, “My First Date Got Ruined By One English Word”).

After that unforgettable “Sharp Restaurant” incident, our bond became even stronger. She never missed an opportunity to tease me by saying, “Let’s go to Sharp Restaurant.” 😝😂

I would simply smile and reply, “No worries. One day, my English will be better than yours.” 🥶

As time passed, our love continued to grow. We started meeting quite often, sometimes in parks, sometimes in restaurants, and very frequently at a cyber café. Back then, many cyber cafés had separate covered cabins that offered a bit of privacy, making them a popular meeting spot for young couples.

We always chose places close to her college because it was more convenient for her and saved time.

She lived right next to my best friend’s house. Most of our conversations happened through handwritten letters that we exchanged from our rooftops, followed by endless eye contact and our own little language of hand gestures.

Unfortunately, her younger brother noticed us more than once.

Naturally, I assumed he must have informed their parents. Strangely, though, neither she nor I noticed any change in the behaviour of her family members.

Still… something inside me refused to believe everything was normal.

Gradually, I started feeling as if her brother’s eyes were silently telling me, “Listen, dude… I know everything. Just stop it.”

Whenever I shared this fear with her, she would laugh it off.

“You’re overthinking,” she would say. “Everyone behaves exactly the same as before. Nobody knows anything.”

Even so, I became more cautious. I reduced my visits and avoided going to the rooftop unless it was absolutely necessary to exchange letters.

Then came the day that changed everything.

It was March 2003, the second day of Holi, probably the 19th or 20th of March, if my memory serves me right.

As usual, we met briefly on the rooftop. She tossed a letter towards me and immediately went back inside.

When I opened it downstairs, she had written that she would be going out the next day, telling her family she had extra classes.

The irony was that the colleges were closed because of Holi.

She also wrote that her father would drop her at her friend Richa’s house, and from there she would come to our favourite cyber café.

That cyber café had become so familiar to us that even the owner knew us quite well.

The moment I finished reading the letter, something didn’t feel right.

A strong instinct kept telling me that we should postpone the meeting.

I even discussed it with my friend, and we both agreed that it was better to cancel the plan. I immediately wrote a reply asking her not to come.

Unfortunately, by the time I reached her house, it was already dark.

She never came to the rooftop again that evening.

I waited for a long time, hoping she would appear, but eventually I had to leave with the undelivered letter still in my pocket.

And unlike today, there was no way to call her. Receiving a phone call from a boy on the family landline was simply out of the question.

That entire night, I couldn’t shake off the uneasy feeling.

Every instinct inside me was screaming…

Don’t go.

But the next morning, common sense lost the battle against young love.

I woke up, convinced myself that I had been overthinking everything, and started getting ready for the date.

While I was cleaning my bike, my mother asked, “Where are you going?”

I casually replied, “Going to wish a friend for Holi.”

She smiled and said, “Don’t be late. Come back before lunch.”

“Sure,” I replied.

A little while later, I reached our favourite cyber café.

About fifteen minutes later, she arrived too.

We walked into our usual cabin and quietly closed the door behind us.

After chatting for a while, along with the usual cuddling and those innocent stolen moments, something happened that had never happened before…

Despite visiting that café more than fifty times.

Someone knocked on our cabin door.

We looked at each other, completely confused.

Who could it be?

A few seconds later…

There was another knock.

This time, the person standing outside called out her name.

The moment we heard that voice…

Our hearts almost stopped.

Because…

It was her father.

😰😢

To be continued…
