June is almost here, which means the year is nearly half gone. My birthday is in January, insha’Allah, and I’ll be turning 30. I’m not afraid of my thirties.. if anything, I feel better than I ever have. What does sit with me, though, is the reality that some men are especially harsh toward women who are still single in their thirties. I’ve already had insecure men make comments about my “declining value” while claiming theirs only grows with age and income. It’s honestly laughable and I don’t take their words to heart, but I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t a little intimidated by what this next decade holds, God willing I’m here to live it. Sometimes I wish I had been more proactive about finding a spouse sooner, but I wasn’t ready and our nikkah date is predestined so there’s honestly no reason to put pressure on myself.
